7 Nanahon me (Sanpo
giri)
The left foot hits the ground on the sixth
step pointing to
the right as much as possible,
but though the draw is aimed squarely at the
opponent in front, the next step is taken to
the right while bringing the sword
to jodan
level, and as the right foot completes the step,
cutting the opponent on the right down to
horizontal.
Look and swivel around 180° bringing the
sword to jodan
level, and cut down to
horizontal, bringing down the opponent on
the left of
front.
Look and swivel 90° to the right while raising
the sword
to jodan level in a blocking
movement, and stepping out with the right
foot, cut
the opponent in front down to
horizontal.
Stepping all the way back with the right foot,
raise the
sword and perform chiburi with a
cutting motion from above the head as the left
foot completes a step back.

8 Hachihon me
(Ganmen ate)
As the right foot completes the third step,
thrust the pommel of the sheathed sword
into the bridge of the opponent’s nose.
Look
around 180° and slide the scabbard
down the sword. Swivelling anticlockwise
complete the draw and put the sword, just
behind the tsuba, against your hip
with its
edge to the right and tip towards the
second opponent.
Stepping out with the right foot, thrust the
sword slightly
upwards into this opponent’s
solar plexus.
Turn 180° raising the sword, and cut down to
horizontal,
disposing of the first opponent.
Perform yoko chiburi, and return sword.
9 Kyuhon me (Soete
tsuki)
On the second step the left foot lands
pointing to the
left, towards the opponent.
Bring up the right foot next to the left, and
turning 90° left to face the opponent, draw
and cut down from the top right to
the
bottom left of the opponent’s face, as the
left foot moves back.
Draw the right foot a short way back and
place your right
hand, holding the sword
handle, against your side with the sword
horizontal and
edge downwards. The left
hand supports the blade by holding it
between the the
thumb and side of hand.
Stepping to the front with the left foot,
thrust the
kissaki into the opponent’s solar
plexus.
Withdraw the sword about 10cm and prepare for chiburi.
Perform chiburi, using a backward movement of the saya to provide the equal and
opposite reaction to the movement of the sword (sayabiki), while the left foot
travels back. Return sword.

10 Juppon me (Shiho
giri)
On the third step, which is made diagonally to
the right
front, seize the sword and scabbard,
draw both up and out, and bring down
forcefully
breaking the wrist of the opponent about to
draw his/her sword.
Look 180° anticlockwise, and draw the scabbard
off the
sword while turning the body to face 45°
to the left of front, bringing the
back of the
sword to rest horizontally against the chest,
edge away from your
body, pointing to the
second opponent to your left.
Take a side step to the left while thrusting the
kissaki
into the opponent’s solar plexus.
Look 180° clockwise at the previous opponent
and bringing
the sword up cut the opponent down
to horizontal as the left foot steps forward.
Look and turn 90° clockwise, step towards the
third
opponent with the right foot, and having
raised the sword to jodan, cut down to
horizontal.
Look 180° anticlockwise at the fourth opponent. While
swiveling to face him/her adopt the ‘wakigamae’ stance, with the sword low
and hidden behind your right side. Step forward with the right foot and raising
the sword to jodan, cut down to horizontal.
Prepare for chiburi from jodan stepping back with the right
foot, and perform it with the left foot stepping back. Return sword.
