4 Yonhon me (Tsuka ate)
Sit in ‘kiza’ (on side of left foot with right knee up).
An imaginary opponent sitting in front of you starts
to draw.
Grip the scabbard and sword, quickly rise and as the
right foot steps out to the front, your left knee on the
floor, drive the pommel forcefully into the opponents
solar plexus.
Look behind and see the other opponent ready to
strike. Keeping the sword up, draw the scabbard
down the blade.
Swivel the body 90 degrees to left thus completing the
draw, raise the sword to horizontal, and rest its back
against your chest.
Thrust to the left into the opponent’s chest.
Swivel back to face the front, and raising the sword above
the head, cut down to horizontal, thus disposing of the first
opponent.
Perform yoko
chiburi, a horizontal, sharp movement of the
sword to the right.
Returning the sword into the scabbard, draw the right foot
under the body, and stand.
5 Gohon me (Kesa
giri)
Start walking with the right foot first. On the fourth
step
grip
the sword and turning the scabbard through
180°, draw down and cut upwards as the right foot
completes the fifth step.
The cut is from the opponent’s right hip through
the
torso and out through the left shoulder.
Use the sword’s momentum to swivel the sword around
and cut down along the previous cut.
Step back all the way with the right foot, preparing
for
chiburi, blade upwards with tsuba near right side of your
mouth, and perform chiburi while
taking a full step back
with the left.
Sheath the sword and return to your starting position
taking four steps backwards.

6 Roppon me
(Morote tsuki)
On the fourth step draw upwards and, as the
right foot completes the next step, cut down
across the opponent’s face stopping under the
left side of the chin.
As you bring the left foot up to the right,
return the saya to its carry position, and
continuing the movement with the left hand,
seize the tsuka with both hands.
Stepping out with the right foot, and using your
bodyweight, thrust the kissaki into the opponent’s
solar plexus.
Look around and turn 180°, and raising the sword
to jodan
level cut the second opponent down to
horizontal as your right foot steps out.
Look around and turn 180°, and raising the sword to
jodan
level cut the third opponent down to horizontal
as your right foot steps out.
Perform yoko chiburi, a short movement of the sword to
the
right.
