Seitei Iai', a standard Iaido, was established by All Japan
Kendo Federation (Zen Nippon Kendo Renmei, ZNKR) in 1960's.
There
are 10 established forms of Seitei Iai. The
aim of developing the forms
was to set a standard that could used for grading
nationally and later
internationally.

Seitei Iai Gata (forms)
1. Ippon me
(the first): Mae (front)
Sitting positon, one attacker in
front
2. Nihon me (the second): Ushiro (rear)
Sitting position, one attacher at
rear
3. Sanbon me (the third): Uke nagashi (Catch and slide off)
Sitting positon, one attacker on the
left
4. Yonhon me (the forth): Tsuka ate (Strike with tsua)
Standing position, two attackers, one
in front and the other at rear
5. Gohon me
(the fifth): Kesa giri (Cut to kesa)
Standing position, one attacker in front

Roppon me (the sixth): Morote Zuki (Thrust with both
hands)
Standing position,
two attackers, one in front and the other at rear
7. Nanahon me (the seventh): Sampo Giri (Cut in three directions)
Standing position, three attackers,
one in front, one on the right
and the other on the left

Hachihon me (the eighth): Gammem ate (Strike center of
the face)

9. Kyuhon me (nineth): Soete zuki (Thrust with hand
alongside the
blade)

10. Juppon me (tenth): shiho giri (Cut in four direction)
